Sony’s DualShock 4 Information

Sony’s brand new trailer shows off the successor to the much loved DualShock 3, the DualShock 4. Whilst there’s not much difference in the name, the actual physical appearance is completely different.

First off, we have the light bar. The light bar acts as tracker for the players, the PS4 will be able to track where the player is in the room and adjust the split screen organization accordingly. Pretty handy!

Also, the fact that every controller now has a headphone jack and every PS4 will be shipped with a mic set means that there will be greater communication between players in game. Previously you had to buy it separately and it was just a hassle. Also, the controller has a small speaker, which I have mixed feelings about. In the case of BF4 or 5 we’ll most likely have the main sounds coming out of the TV whilst commands and such will come through the mini-speaker.

The ergonomics have also had a revamp, making the controller a lot more bulkier and convenient for shooters by making the L2 and R2 triggers curve outwards for a more “trigger-like” shape. There is also a new and conveniently placed button to “share” your gameplay, assuming that you can record anything, you’ll be able to upload and capture gameplay commentary a lot easier.

All in all, I’m actually excited for this bulkier, more fine tuned version of the DualShock. Can’t wait to get my hands on a PS4 set!
