Six months following the launch of the free application on PS3 in North America, it has finally been launched on European and Australian regions. PS3 users will be able to find the YouTube app under “My Channels” in the TV/Video service in the XMB.
Sony has assured users that the application has been specifically tailored to TV screens (peaking at 720p) and the Dual shock controller for easier navigation and user friendly interface. The application is specifically available in the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
The launch of this app comes a week before Sony’s “big announcement” on 20th February, which many are speculating will be the announcement of the PS4. A report is suggesting that the next Playstation will feature easier video sharing across the internet, such as recording and sharing gameplay on YouTube. This would tie in perfectly with the new application as it allows the user to access all features of YouTube.
Expect to see a lot more gameplay or “Let’s Play” videos popping up here and there!
